Size 6 silent basketball: a careful buying guide

Understand the 28.5-inch reference and the gap between a product selector label and verified foam-ball dimensions.

The standard size 6 reference

Size 6 commonly refers to a 28.5-inch circumference. USA Basketball recommends size 6 for boys and girls ages 9–11 and for girls in its older youth age bands. Individual leagues can differ, so confirm local requirements.

For adult practice, match the ball used in the player’s league where practical. Smaller hands or a new skill can justify a comfort-led decision, but do not mistake that choice for an official competition rule.

What we have and have not verified

QBounce’s selector includes a size 6 option, but the detailed product section we researched only documents circumferences for sizes 5 and 7. We therefore do not publish a verified 28.5-inch claim for that foam variant.

That distinction matters. A selector name is useful evidence that a variant is marketed, but it is not a measured specification or proof of current stock.

Before you buy a size 6 foam ball

Ask the seller to confirm the circumference, mass and exact model. Check whether the listing and your selected variant agree. If dimensions are essential and remain unclear, choose a product with better documented measurements.

Our comparison tool intentionally keeps the size 6 filter empty until a matching variant is verified. The sizing tool explains the general reference separately from catalog availability.
